Creating by Heart

The Making of a Heartfelt Quilt

In September 2012, my sister-in-law, Sue, was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Sue has received treatment and healing in a variety of ways, including the help of Mayo Clinic.

During Sue's journey of treatment and healing, I reached out to both sides of her family and invited them to write Sue a message of love and encouragement on a square of fabric which would then become the center of a block.
.
A total of 20 squares have been signed with love and encouragement for Sue. As the signed squares were returned to me, I began assembling the blocks, then the rows and finally the quilt.

The designs and messages are artistic, genuine and filled with love for Sue.

This was truly the most rewarding I've ever worked on!  To touch and gather, sew and bond each persons message of encouragement and love together into one heartfelt quilt to wrap Sue with our love!

Sue and Mike receiving the quilt at the "Quilt Convergence Party" where we all celebrated together the end of Sue's treatment. Nearly 25 of us gathered to celebrate and surround Sue with our love!

Sue's go to verse:

"Fear not, I am with you. Be not dismayed for I am your God.
I will strengthen you. I will help you.
I will uphold you with my victorious right arm."
- Isaiah 41:10
